The 1-1

Eleven months old. Queue the countdown.

I can't wait for his next check up so we can see how big he's gotten.

This month was pretty eventful. I'll let Lucas explain that to you...

Milestones

I now have four teeth! Yeppers, that's the bottom two plus two up top. Not the very two front top teeth but the two teeth right next to them. Mama says I have fangs now and she should dress me as a Vampire for Halloween. I have been working on the top two center teeth as well for a very long time. They look so close but they just haven't cut through yet. Maybe this month!

Do I make a good Vampire???

I had my first school pictures taken. Mama says if I weren't so darn photogenic then they wouldn't have to spend so much money on me. :)

I've been crawling around super fast as usual. And been scaling all the furniture and walking along the walls as usual. The other week I was doing my usual and got distracted and got a boo-boo. I hadn't been to the doctor in two months so we made a special trip this time. But I could tell how worried Mama and Dada were. I got extra kisses and hugs and snuggles. And I also found out how to climb onto the couch now. And I do it just to irritate Mama knowing that she'll chase me. I climb into my little blue chair that sits up against the couch and then I crawl up from there. It's a fun game!

We went to a place called the Melting Pot the other weekend to celebrate how Mama and Dada have been together for ten years. I was a third wheel they said and it was fun!

This past week I've been doing my usual moving about. Mama would shout out at me, "HANDS!" and wave her hands in the air like a crazy woman. Or sometimes she would try to make me clap, "CLAP CLAP CLAP!" she would say. So I figured I was supposed to play along and raise my hands or clap my hands. A few times her and Dada would get excited when I did it. I just didn't understand why, but I was happy they were happy. We played this game again this weekend with my Nana and Grandpa too. I would walk along with my Dino and when I stopped they would yell at me, so I would raise my hands and they would all get excited again. What a bunch of weirdos. I finally figured out what the excitement was about though. Mama said I stood with my hands up for a whole six seconds. And then when we would walk around I would let go and step a few steps before down I went. Apparently that was a big deal too. Those old people really get happy over the strangest things.

On another note, we also learned that I don't like bubbles in my bath.

WAAAHHHHH!

Mama says this next month is special for me. I can't wait to see why!

And the countdown begins...

Ready for Round Two?

Well, Hubby is set to travel again for work.  It was planned to only be for the week, as in, travel Monday, get there, and travel back Friday.  But he just informed me that he was asked to stay through the weekend again.  Until what day I do not know yet.  But it will likely be another 9-11 days planned.  ::sigh::

Meanwhile, Lucas has been sleeping through the night in his own room since Hubby's been back home.  I've come to the conclusion that my son is very observant.  He knew his Dada wasn't there and he didn't want his Mama to be lonely at night.  So he kept waking up in the middle of the night to sleep in bed with me and give me some company.  Such a good boy...  Well, good intentions anyway.  Of course, I love snuggling with him - not that that's actually what I do.  How can you snuggle with an infant who moves around so much anyway?  Still, good intentions, that boy of mine.

So come next Monday I will have to be prepared yet again to parent it out single-handedly.  And most likely will have a little bed partner to keep me company if he figures it out again.

In other news, I mentioned last night on my Facebook feed:

"Just put Lucas in the bath tub. He immediately stood up and began to pee.

THAT is when it became Dada's job to finish the bath.

Such a boy..."

That being said, is it too early to begin potty training?  I mean he's 9.5 months...  If it occurs to him to stand to pee then maybe he's ready??  Regardless, I can't help him with that.  That's Dada's territory.  I'm sure it's too early.  But worth contemplating I suppose.

Sitting Poolside

I went out and bought a little infant pool this past weekend -- thanks to the $5 OFF coupon I had for Buy Buy Baby it only cost me $15.  It has an inflatable cover as well, but I haven't bothered with that yet.

I blew it up {yeah, no help from Hubby} and insisted that Hubby take it outside on the deck and fill it up with some water so that we could put Lucas in it that evening.  {It took me nagging at him several times -- have you heard that before?}

Since it was the evening Hubby thought the water from the hose would come out too cold.  So he actually opted to get a large tub and fill it up with warm water from the bathtub -- it took three trips to fill the pool up a little less than halfway, good enough for now.  And also since it was evening we didn't need the cover so I didn't have to bother blowing up that inflatable to attach {whew!}.

I keep nagging Hubby for us to go the to pool again since we were finally able to get Lucas out there for his first time.  And he's just too much of a homebody to want to make the short walk down the street.  I know it does get crowded quickly.  Such effort to get everything together for a 20-30 minute trip to the pool!

So that's why I went and got us the infant pool.  Of course, I can't go swimming but at least Lucas can get wet more often and learn to get used to it.  {It was even hard enough to get Hubby to go a few feet out the back door onto the deck with this pool.}  And because it's our own pool in our own backyard we didn't even bother dressing Lucas in his swim trunks.  Just his Little Swimmers.  Heck, next time maybe even naked.

And is it bad that we went ahead and got his baby shampoo out and actually bathed him in the pool?

I mean, we used warm water and it wasn't chlorinated...

...and he needed a bath anyway...

...and why waste the water?...  :)

Hey y'all! Check out my pool!

Alphabet Scramble: Q

Q

Quilt - Aside from the afghans and handmade blankets that Lucas has he doesn't have any actual quilts.  And I'm talking the patchwork kind.  I actually started making one before he was born and I have all the squares sewn together.  I just stopped at the part where you need to sew it together with the batting.  For that I need to have the correct type of needle for my sewing machine and I just haven't gotten around to it.  I really need to get that done though, before he's too big to use it!

Q-tip - My boy has some dirty ears.  I try to clean his ears with the cotton swabs after each bath and I swear it always comes out dirty.  I've got the special baby Q-tips so they can't be pushed in too far.  Lucas just can't keep his ears clean.

Alphabet Scramble: B is for...

This week's Alphabet Scramble is brought to you by the letter B!

Boogers - So the past month Lucas has been congested quite often and I've had to do the whole Saline up the nose and drain with the Bulb syringe.  Ugh.  We all hate it, don't we?  But it works.  Also, my dear Sister Amber had given me some Boogie Wipes at one of my showers and we'll use those to help get the crustiness off of his nose.  Come on, Lucas...why won't you let me pick your nose?!

Bathtime - Lucas LOVES his baths.  I get him all washed up (don't forget behind his ears) and then it's a little bit of playtime.  Just a little because I don't want him to get too cold too quickly.  And then I pass off his wriggly self to Hubby with the towel.  I swear he takes his time too, as if Lucas isn't slipping out of my hands!  Then it's a short run to the changing table to get him dried off and diapered before he thinks of any funny business.  He even thinks it's funny when I slather baby lotion all over him.

This video he was extra giggly!
