Happy Birthday Lucas!

LUCAS IS ONE YEAR OLD!!!

I just can't believe it...  It's like one year ago he wasn't here yet, and then he was!  OMG.  ;)

This past Saturday we had the boy's birthday party.  Of course we had to go with a Disney Cars theme.  And of course I went overboard with the party stuff.  But it was worth it.  And we had a blast.

I first want to thank all the family and friends that came.  And then apology to those that couldn't.  You see, we have a tiny house that we rent with limited space.  So we only invited the immediate family this year.  But next year we hope to be able to invite everyone.  So thank you again to everyone who made his party GREAT.

The party supplies...geez.  I have to admit it was probably in excess of $100 if I bothered to pull out the receipts.  But for my sake I won't.  The bulk of it all I got from CelebrateExpress.com with a discount code, of course.  And I chose to customize a banner.  BEST IDEA EVER!  I love it.  And I just might use it every year.

I did end up picking up a few more things here and there from Amazon and my local Party Store.  And the cake...geez times three.  Hehe.  I didn't want to do a huge sheet cake since we were having a small gathering.  And I knew I needed to get a "smash cake" as well.  I went to a few of my local grocers and ended up with Kroger.  I went to place my order and decided on one dozen cupcakes {just so I could use the cupcake tier I got!}, a half-sheet cake which I decorated myself with the fun candles...and then butchered the icing-writing {oops}, and then I saw that they made huge cupcakes.  That was perfect for his smash cake!  Just the right size, and I had another little candle for that one too.

So on to the photos!

And I had to end it with that final picture.  He did not enjoy the cake...if you couldn't tell from the photos.  He actually didn't even want to touch it; we had to pretty much put his hands in it.  And then he kept trying to rub his eyes.  Such a long afternoon - of FUN!

UPDATE: Don't want to forget about his 12 month wellness check.  Here were his measurements:

Length: 29 1/4 inches (60%)
Head: 46cm (45%)

That's all folks!

The Spirit of October

There is a lot to the month of October but I think what you see most often is Pumpkins.

Of course with pumpkins you get a whole lot of the color orange, anything and everything Halloween, especially CANDY!

But back to the Spirit of October, which I love to think, Pumpkins.

My Mom {Nana} and I took Lucas to his very first pumpkin patch.  I can't really include the one [we] went to last year even though he was in my bellah.  So this year we went to a real pumpkin patch!  I say real because they drove us out to the actual patch and we roamed around until we saw our pumpkins.

First things first, it was a sunny day that turned out to be a bit too warm, and we had been bundled in our jackets to start.  We started out on a hayride to get us to the patch.

We made a stop along the way to visit some farm animals.

Then we reached our destination and scoured around for the perfect pumpkins!  Now that Lucas can walk he got to do a bit of walking in the patch, but just a bit because there are way too many vines.

We made a return trip on another hayride back to the entrance.  They also had some kid activities like a bouncy house, but the boy can't enjoy that just yet.  But we got to enjoy some yummy apple cider when we left.

That same weekend Lucas got an early birthday present from Nana and Grandpa.  It was a Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Learning Home and it's big enough that it gets to stay at their place for him to play with when he visits.

Then Nana and I took Lucas out shopping for some new {real} shoes now that he's walking all over the place.  We got him a cool Stride-Rite pair.  And then we found a mini-carousel at the mall too.  So Lucas got to ride on it.  First, the boat and then the train.  He really enjoyed that.

And that concluded our weekend fun!

Walking on Sunshine

He's walking!  =D

Lucas has been getting around a lot this past week.  And I finally was able to get proof of his walking (a good distance) on video last night.

 Our little Luke Sky-Walker!

His main mode is still crawling since it gets him where he's going faster.  But he is definitely getting more confident with standing and walking.  He'll master this is no time!

We are a proud Mama and Dada.  :)

The 1-1

Eleven months old. Queue the countdown.

I can't wait for his next check up so we can see how big he's gotten.

This month was pretty eventful. I'll let Lucas explain that to you...

Milestones

I now have four teeth! Yeppers, that's the bottom two plus two up top. Not the very two front top teeth but the two teeth right next to them. Mama says I have fangs now and she should dress me as a Vampire for Halloween. I have been working on the top two center teeth as well for a very long time. They look so close but they just haven't cut through yet. Maybe this month!

Do I make a good Vampire???

I had my first school pictures taken. Mama says if I weren't so darn photogenic then they wouldn't have to spend so much money on me. :)

I've been crawling around super fast as usual. And been scaling all the furniture and walking along the walls as usual. The other week I was doing my usual and got distracted and got a boo-boo. I hadn't been to the doctor in two months so we made a special trip this time. But I could tell how worried Mama and Dada were. I got extra kisses and hugs and snuggles. And I also found out how to climb onto the couch now. And I do it just to irritate Mama knowing that she'll chase me. I climb into my little blue chair that sits up against the couch and then I crawl up from there. It's a fun game!

We went to a place called the Melting Pot the other weekend to celebrate how Mama and Dada have been together for ten years. I was a third wheel they said and it was fun!

This past week I've been doing my usual moving about. Mama would shout out at me, "HANDS!" and wave her hands in the air like a crazy woman. Or sometimes she would try to make me clap, "CLAP CLAP CLAP!" she would say. So I figured I was supposed to play along and raise my hands or clap my hands. A few times her and Dada would get excited when I did it. I just didn't understand why, but I was happy they were happy. We played this game again this weekend with my Nana and Grandpa too. I would walk along with my Dino and when I stopped they would yell at me, so I would raise my hands and they would all get excited again. What a bunch of weirdos. I finally figured out what the excitement was about though. Mama said I stood with my hands up for a whole six seconds. And then when we would walk around I would let go and step a few steps before down I went. Apparently that was a big deal too. Those old people really get happy over the strangest things.

On another note, we also learned that I don't like bubbles in my bath.

WAAAHHHHH!

Mama says this next month is special for me. I can't wait to see why!

And the countdown begins...
